Youth-focused, Forward-thinking

We are a youth development nonprofit, looking for a proficient Ruby on Rails Developer (Part-Time, Full-Time, or Contract) to work on our websites. We are based in New York City and primarily use Rails on our sites. We are building an interactive communication system for young people through a network of regional listening lines and an information database website.

Our services compile youth-friendly information from around the country through mapping projects where young people canvass their communities, block-by-block, finding youth-friendly resources. This information is then housed on one of our sites, a youth-friendly resource site that can be used nationally and locally. The Developer would work on the site, a revision of the corporate website and would assist in the creation of an interactive civic engagement site for young people.

We are a progressive company that is big on innovation. We are working with new technology in a field where technology is generally an afterthought. We would prefer a developer with experience using: Mephisto CMS, Google Maps API, Social Search software. Creativity is a must!
