Remote Web UI Designer & RoR Programmer

Position: Web UI Designer & RoR Programmer
Location: Anywhere - this is a REMOTE position

We're looking for a very talented software engineer to work on the next generation web application. The candidate will be responsible for architectural software decisions, as well as software implementation. The work environment is dynamic with focus on creative thinking and usage of open source to solve complex problems and support business needs.

Requirements:

  • Passion for UI design and programming using client-side libraries like jQuery
  • Strong knowledge and experience with JavaScript, AJAX and JSON
  • Strong knowledge of XHTML and CSS
  • Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Extensive experience with large scale databases, SQL, stored procedures and database optimization
  • Fluency in UML, design patterns, data modeling
  • Ability to independently set tasks and complete work with limited direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Ability to devise creative technical solutions that can scale massively

Bonus Points:

Experience with Social media API's such as Facebook API, Twitter API and Google Maps API a huge plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop responsive and elegant cross-platform functionality with JavaScript, XHTML and CSS, for our web applications
  • Actively contribute to the overall UI design and architecture of overall web platform solutions
  • Research new technologies and approaches to address business needs
