Next Generation Social Gaming

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a company that mixes bleeding-edge internet applications technology, cool artwork, and massive multiplayer gaming? Well, this may be the place for you. We are dedicated to building the best social games on the web. Located in San Francisco, CA, our focus is on building the next generation of engaging social games.

We are looking for a Metrics Engineer to be an integral part of our team. We make cool social games. And we do it well. However, we have room to improve and are looking for a person who has the motivation, intelligence, and character to design and implement internal tools and systems that will help us get to where we want to go. The types of things this person will be responsible for are:

  • Maintaining and enhancing our collection of business intelligence applications
  • Interfacing with business intelligence customers such as our CEO and VP of Business Development
  • Integrating business intelligence applications with our massive multiplayer games
  • And eventually getting to work on some games :)

Qualifications:
The perfect candidate will have Ruby programming mastery, excellent problem-solving skills, and have built business intelligence systems in the past. This person must have a strong bias towards data-driven decision-making and planning. This person will be the primary owner of business intelligence data for our games. This critical role directly affects our ability to improve our games' virality, engagement, and monetization mechanics.

This person has within themselves the characteristics to fit in with a casual, yet highly-capable engineering organization that follows a "continuous improvement" philosophy. Agile-family development should not be unfamiliar to the candidate. We develop on Mac OS X and we deploy on Linux. The candidate must be able to operate proficiently with both systems.

The key skills we are looking for are:

  • 2-3 years programming experience with Ruby on Rails is a MUST
  • At home with developing on Unix environments (Mac OS X and Linux)
  • Very strong grasp of algorithms and data structures
  • Has created a suite of business analytics tools in the past
  • A can-do attitude
  • A sense of humor

Brian Mariani, Ruby on Rails RecruiterHi, I’m Brian

I work at mirRoR, where we connect agile Rails developers and employers.

We started as Rails programmers ourselves (and are currently working on a few social, facebook, and iPhone apps). This background and network help us identify quality opportunities in the industry.

That’s especially important today. While many venture-backed web 2.0 startups are cutting costs amidst this economic climate, we are working with a number of companies that are self-sufficient, cash-positive, and well capitalized for the long-term.

I’d be eager to briefly discuss where you are in the process and see if there is a potential fit, either for the opportunities listed here, or those posted elsewhere.
