Changing the Way Neighbors Interact

About Us:

We are a small team of product-focused geeks changing the way people interact with their neighbors. We recently closed a $1M round of seed funding from an fantastic set of investors, and are now seeking new members to join our technical team.

Are you motivated to wear all hats and go where the problems are? Know a thing or two about mobile phones or web servers? Want to get in on a newly-funded startup?

Responsibilities:

  • Build highly usable, performant, and maintainable web application interfaces and server-side components.
  • Lead development on our desktop web and server-side codebase. (Our server framework is Ruby on Rails, but we will use whatever tools make most sense for the requirements and for our team expertise.)
  • Participate heavily in product design and requirements definition.
  • Design and maintain our public developer API.
  • As one of our first engineers, your role will grow as the company grows, in whatever way best suits your skills and interests.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience working directly on user-facing, database-driven web applications.
  • Meaningful experience with many or all of the following: RoR or other MVCs, Ruby/Perl/Python/PHP, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, XML, JSON, HTTP, REST, web services, authentication, Unicode, Apache/Nginx, MySQL, memcached, Linux, crons and shell scripts, internal admin tools, relational database data design and SQL query optimization.
  • A passion for working on user-facing products, mobile applications, and location-based services.
  • Bonus points for experience building Facebook apps.
  • Bonus points for experience working with maps and geospatial data.
