Ruby on Rails Developer in Layton, UtahWe are an end-to-end software service provider. We design, develop, deploy and support web and mobile applications for startups and Fortune 500 companies. We're looking for a mid-level software developer responsible for building and enhancing web applications. We are looking primarily for candidates with Ruby on Rails development experience.
You'll be working on new internal projects as well as providing consultancy services to our customers. Our aim is to create small and efficient teams of highly skilled developers to build well-designed systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain a wide range of applications using Ruby on Rails and other supporting technologies
- Confer with users to gain a better understanding of their goals and intentions
- Provide customer with technical leadership
- Write and maintain programming documentation and use case scenarios
- Resolve software defects and improve code quality
- Participate in the development community by presenting your experiences and ideas in user group meetings and other public forums
- Contribute to open source projects and communities
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Two years of full time development experience with Ruby on Rails
- Familiarity with databases
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Working knowledge of Mac OS X and Linux (especially command line)
- Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
- Solid interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
Desired skills:
- Adept with multiple programming and scripting languages
- Deep understanding of programming fundamentals, beyond just the programming language
- Web design skills
- Four or more years of full time web application development experience
- Experience with MySQL or CouchDB database servers
- Experience working in a agile software development process
- Familiarity with Git or other distributed version control systems
