Video Search Startup on Rails
We are working to build the web's best video search engine. We let users find all their favorite online videos, from TV shows to movies to the latest celebrity, sports, news, and viral videos. Our proprietary technology addresses two main video search challenges: finding and catalogueing videos from the web and delivering relevant video results to users. Our goal is to index every video online and provide the best experience for finding and discovering these videos.
We're funded by DFJ, Ron Conway, and Marc Andreessen, and our smart, experienced team is advised by Rajeev Motwani and other notable industry veterans. We are hiring entrepreneurial folks looking to make an impact and help build an amazing product. We are based in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco, CA.
Web Application Engineer
We are looking for a smart, pragmatic, driven Software Engineer to build fast and elegant web applications and interfaces to our video search/discovery technology.
- 2+ years of building web applications.
- Ruby on Rails
- Javascript / AJAX / DHTML
- Hand-coded HTML / CSS
- Facebook App experience a plus
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop large portions of products. We are a small company and need doers!
- Ideally, experience working on your own projects / products and/or contributing to the open source community.
- Passion for online video. You like watching videos/TV/sports/news, and you won’t settle for anything less than developing the best product for searching for videos.
Software Engineer / Software Architect (Data Acquisition)
We are looking for an entrepreneurial Software Engineer / Software Architect to focus on Data Acquisition. This person will work on various data acquisition technologies required to build the web’s best video search engine. You will develop scalable, performant web crawlers for finding online videos and other data. You will use various techniques, including machine learning, to extract data from vastly different web content. You will also be involved with data-mining, normalization, augmentation, and de-duplication projects.
- Background in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Experience with information extraction. Previous experience with crawlers/parsers.Understanding of machine learning.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, Flash, and other areas of web videos.
- Programming experience in Ruby or similar languages.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop large portions of products. We are a small company and need doers!
