Senior RoR Developer for Build-Out

We are a young web company, which to an incoming tech guy means you'll have your hands full in a wide variety of technologies. You will be responsible for helping to build out and maintain our web infrastructure but your duties will not be limited to web programming. Because we are a web service with heavy integration into other online services, you will need to fully understand the world of web services and all its concomitant protocols/technologies. Most important, however, is clean code, an organized mind, web programming chops, an eye for well-designed architecture (as we prepare for growth), a rapacious wit, and self-motivation.

Technologies:

• Ruby on Rails
• Ruby (listed separately because we have a number of backend libraries that are totally Rails independent, so understanding these will require a solid knowledge of Ruby) 
• Basic web languages: HTML/DHTML/CSS/Javascript 
• Cross-browser 
• Rails-brand Ajax (assuming comfort with Prototype/Scriptaculous) 
• Good understanding of HTTP (requests and headers, statuses, HTTPS, etc) 
• Experience with web/app/db server setups (Apache/Mongrel a bonus) 
• ORM with ActiveRecord and SQL (specifically MySQL, but that is less important) 
• Development concepts: REST, MVC, SCM (SVN) 
• Experience with API-based web services (data feed services, such as GData, a bonus) 
• Online checkout/financial processing (e.g. Google Checkout, PayPal) 
• A big plus: experience with AWS (we heavily use S3, EC2, and SQS)

Experience:
Demonstrably impressive experience is a must. We're ready to drop you in, so, besides the understandable integration/ramp-up period, we need you to be prepared for productive work out the gate. Involvement in and contributions to the Rails community would be highly regarded; references and coding samples are necessary.
