Web Application Developer
The Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship at Georgetown University seeks a Web Application Developer to work on a variety of innovative, web-based projects. This position is particularly appropriate for someone interested in the relationship between technology and teaching and learning.
The successful applicant will be able to create design mockups of websites and bring those designs to reality using the latest web development technologies. Fluency with current web design technologies (including ability to hand code HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and knowledge of web accessibility and web usability standards are essential. The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with web-database technologies (MySQL, PHP), current trends in web development (AJAX, Ruby on Rails), Linux server administration, and multimedia and graphic design applications (Flash, ActionScript, Photoshop, Illustrator).
The applicant should be comfortable with Rapid Application (Agile or Getting Real) Development and be interested in working in an academic environment.
Senior Agile Developer
The Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship at Georgetown University seeks a Senior Programmer with experience programming, documenting, and maintaining Rich Internet Applications. The Senior Programmer will help design, develop, and maintain a variety of online applications, with a primary focus on electronic portfolio and social software applications.
Applicants should have an advanced knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX, MySQL, and a web application development programming language, such as Ruby on Rails (preferred), PHP or ColdFusion. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of Java, XML, XUL, and Linux administration. The applicant should be comfortable with Rapid Application (Agile or Getting Real) Development and be interested in working in an academic environment.
The person in this position should be able to comment code well, track multiple projects, communicate effective design, and write clean code.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (Masters Degree preferred) in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years experience as a Programmer or Web Application Developer
- strong written and verbal skills.
